[Saba Sports News] The Indiana Pacers star committed one of the biggest blunders of the NBA season in the final seconds of a tight contest. With the Pacers trailing 119-116, Siakam received the ball just past halfcourt, needing a three-pointer to tie the game.
Instead, he inexplicably drove to the hoop for a dunk, cutting the deficit to 119-118. The mistake proved costly, as Indiana couldn’t foul in time, leaving just 0.1 seconds on the clock.
The local Atlanta broadcast summed it up best, “What was Siakam thinking?”
Siakam was likely aware that the Pacers had no timeouts left, meaning they had to go the full length of the floor to even get a shot off.
By dunking with only a second left, he essentially sealed Indiana’s fate. To make matters worse, he also missed a wide-open Aaron Nesmith on the left wing for a potential game-tying three.
The costly miscue dropped the Pacers to 35-27, keeping them in fifth place in the Eastern Conference. For an All-Star, it was a shocking lapse in awareness—one that instantly joins the list of infamous NBA brain fades.
