[Jolly Sports News] The Oklahoma City Thunder are comfortably leading the Western Conference standings, but they may still be looking to bolster their roster.

Anthony Slater of The Athletic reported on Saturday that the Thunder are actively pursuing Brooklyn Nets forward Cameron Johnson ahead of the February 6 NBA trade deadline.

Slater also mentioned that Brooklyn’s asking price for Johnson has been “steep,” and the Sacramento Kings are another team showing interest in him.

Johnson, 28, is a highly-coveted asset in the second year of a four-year, $94.5 million contract. Standing at 6-foot-8, he is averaging career-best numbers this season with 19.5 points and 3.0 assists per game on impressive 50/43/90 shooting splits.

Johnson was also a key player for the Phoenix Suns team that reached the 2021 NBA Finals.

Currently, the 29-5 Thunder are strong at the forward position with their dynamic duo of Jalen Williams and Luguentz Dort.

However, Johnson’s efficiency as a shooter and his length as a defender could make him a valuable addition for the playoffs, where versatile closing-lineup options are crucial.

OKC also has a wealth of assets, from young talent to draft picks, to offer in a potential trade. They have been linked to acquiring another forward for several months now.
