Nuggets Considering Reunion with Key Championship Player

[Jolly Sports News] Only four of the top seven players from the Denver Nuggets’ 2023 championship rotation remain, but a familiar face might soon return to the fold.

Veteran NBA writer Jake Fischer reported Monday that the Toronto Raptors are eager to trade forward Bruce Brown before the Feb. 6 deadline.

If a trade doesn’t materialize, a buyout could be in play, and the Nuggets are reportedly very interested in reuniting with Brown if that happens.

The 28-year-old was a vital bench contributor during Denver’s 2023 title run. Despite standing just 6-foot-4, Brown made his mark with versatile defense, offensive rebounding, and clutch corner threes.

However, after signing with the Indiana Pacers in free agency and later being traded to Toronto in the Pascal Siakam deal, Brown has seen his role diminish with the rebuilding Raptors. Averaging fewer than 19 minutes per game this season and carrying a $23 million expiring contract, he’s a prime candidate to be moved.

Meanwhile, the Nuggets have been seeking wing reinforcements all season following Kentavious Caldwell-Pope’s offseason departure.

Although Russell Westbrook and Christian Braun have stepped up in Aaron Gordon’s sporadic absences, Denver is still exploring upgrades. If their pursuit of bigger trade targets doesn’t pan out, a reunion with Brown via the buyout market could be a practical and nostalgic solution.
