[Jolly Sports News] Zion Williamson’s recent suspension by the New Orleans Pelicans wasn’t an isolated incident, but rather part of a recurring issue.

The Pelicans announced on Friday that the two-time All-Star forward would be suspended for one game. Initial reports indicated Williamson had been late for the team’s flight to Philadelphia for a matchup against the 76ers.

However, NBA reporter Chris Haynes revealed that this wasn’t the first instance of tardiness for Williamson. The former No. 1 overall pick has reportedly been late to multiple practices this season, leading the Pelicans to take disciplinary action.

Williamson has since addressed the situation, issuing an apology in which he stated, “I take full responsibility. There is no excuse for being late to team activities.”

The 24-year-old’s time in New Orleans has been marred by a litany of challenges, including injuries, conditioning concerns, dietary habits, and friction with the organization. While Williamson has made efforts to address some of these issues, this latest development adds tardiness to his list of setbacks.

Despite these struggles, the Pelicans continue to hope that Williamson can find consistency and establish himself as the cornerstone of their franchise.
