[Saba Sports News] Anthony Edwards was ejected during the Minnesota Timberwolves’ loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday night, and now he’ll miss another game due to his actions.
The NBA announced on Friday that Edwards has been suspended after accumulating his 16th technical foul of the season.
Under league rules, reaching that threshold results in an automatic one-game suspension, with every two additional technicals triggering another suspension.
Edwards received his first technical in the Timberwolves’ 111-102 loss after getting into a shoving match with Lakers forward Jarred Vanderbilt at the end of the first quarter.
Things escalated in the third quarter when Edwards picked up his second technical for arguing a non-call, leading to his automatic ejection. Frustrated, he also threw the ball into the stands on his way to the locker room.
As a result, Edwards will serve his suspension when Minnesota faces the Utah Jazz on Friday night.
Before his ejection, Edwards had 18 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists. The three-time All-Star is averaging 27.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game this season.
