[Jolly Sports News] The NBA announced on Saturday the suspensions for players involved in the fight between the Dallas Mavericks and Phoenix Suns during Friday night’s game.
Mavericks forward Naji Marshall received a four-game suspension, while Suns center Jusuf Nurkic was suspended for three games due to their roles in the third-quarter altercation. Mavericks forward P.J. Washington was also handed a one-game suspension for escalating the situation.
The incident began when Nurkic committed an offensive foul and reacted angrily to something he heard, slapping Marshall in the face. Marshall retaliated with a punch, and Washington added to the chaos by shoving Nurkic to the ground. All three players received technical fouls and were ejected from the game.
The NBA’s statement highlighted that Marshall later attempted to confront Nurkic near the locker rooms, further justifying his suspension.
Marshall, meanwhile, seemed to take the brawl in stride, updating his social media profile with a photo of himself throwing the punch. While he may have found the move humorous, the league clearly didn’t share his amusement.
