[Jolly Sports News] The NBA is cracking down hard on flopping, and the latest player to feel the heat is Brooklyn Nets guard Ziaire Williams.
The league announced Monday that Williams has been fined $2,000 for a flopping violation during Brooklyn’s 100-92 loss to the Orlando Magic on Sunday.
The incident occurred in the third quarter when Williams was defending Magic guard Anthony Black in transition. After a slight nudge from Black, Williams dramatically threw his arms up and successfully drew an offensive foul call. However, a postgame review by the league deemed it a flop, leading to the fine.
While Williams’ theatrics fooled the on-court referee, Pat Fraher (No. 26), they didn’t pass the league’s scrutiny.
The NBA’s tougher stance on flopping is becoming more evident, with fines being issued more frequently. Just days earlier, another team racked up two separate flopping fines during a game against the Nets.
The league’s increased enforcement of anti-flopping measures is sending a clear message: dramatic acting won’t be tolerated.
