[Jolly Sports News] The Dallas Mavericks have managed two consecutive victories despite the absence of stars Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving due to injuries. On Thursday, Jaden Hardy stepped up to lead the Mavs to a 117-111 win over the Portland Trail Blazers, delivering an impressive 25-point performance.
Hardy’s contribution was crucial, especially with Klay Thompson scoring just three points in the game. Despite these challenges, the Mavericks found a way to succeed, showcasing the depth of their roster.
“We have a very deep roster,” Hardy said postgame. “A lot of guys that can go get a bucket… That’s what we do, just lean on each other. Just us leaning on each other, talking to each other… That’s what it’s about.”
At 22, Hardy is still looking to establish consistency in his NBA career. With Doncic and Irving sidelined, he recognizes the importance of making the most of his opportunities.
“You never want to see guys out with injury,” Hardy explained. “But in this league, it’s next man up. I just try to take advantage of the opportunities given to me, bring energy, and make an impact. That alone can change a game.”
The Mavericks are undoubtedly stronger with Doncic and Irving on the court, but Thursday’s victory was an encouraging sign. While the Trail Blazers are struggling this season, they still posed a challenge, and the Mavs rose to meet it.
Jaden Hardy’s performance underscores his potential and importance to the team. If he continues to deliver at this level, he’s poised to earn more significant minutes moving forward.
