[Jolly Sports News] Lisa Leslie recently shared her biggest piece of advice for Angel Reese as the young star enters her second WNBA season.
During an episode of Reese’s Unapologetically Angel show, Leslie didn’t hesitate when asked what Reese should focus on.
“The biggest advice I have for you is how you shoot your layups. Period,” Leslie said. “We’re going to fix that. That’s fixable for you … you’re going to get better, and I can help you get better.”
Leslie has already been working with Reese and is confident in her potential. She emphasized that Reese has taken the most important step—being open to growth.
“Hearing you say, ‘Yes, I wanna learn, I wanna work hard, I wanna be better’—my heart melted,” Leslie said. “The fact that you already have that attitude means you’re going to get better. And I can help you. I’m positive.”
Reese, 22, had an impressive rookie season with the Chicago Sky after being selected No. 7 overall in the 2024 WNBA Draft. She averaged 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds per game and earned an All-Star nod. She’s also competing in the new women’s 3-on-3 league, Unrivaled.
Leslie, a two-time WNBA champion and four-time Olympic gold medalist, is one of the greatest players in women’s basketball history.
Her guidance could be crucial for Reese, who has faced criticism for struggling with putbacks and finishing around the rim. If Leslie can help refine that part of Reese’s game, she could take her skills to the next level.
