[Jolly Sports News] Christmas may be the season of giving, but LeBron James wasn’t in a sharing mood on Wednesday.

The Lakers superstar delivered a playful, holiday-themed jab at the NFL after leading his team to a thrilling 115-113 win over Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

Following the victory, James spoke with ESPN’s Lisa Salters and ended the interview with a bold statement, “I love the NFL. I love the NFL. But Christmas is our day.”

The NBA has long owned Christmas Day, a tradition dating back to 1947, the league’s second season. However, in recent years, the NFL has scheduled more games on Dec. 25, challenging the NBA’s holiday dominance.

From 2000 to 2019, the NFL had games on Christmas just nine times, but the league has featured games on the holiday in each of the past five seasons.

Despite the competition, fans on social media overwhelmingly declared the NBA the winner of this year’s Christmas showdown. James’ emphatic performance and declaration only reinforced the NBA’s claim to the holiday spotlight
