[Saba Sports News] Even with four Olympic gold medals to his name, Kevin Durant might not be done chasing international glory just yet.
The Phoenix Suns star appeared on The Draymond Green Show this week, where he addressed his potential participation in the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.
Durant admitted that there’s “a chance” he’ll suit up for Team USA once again—but only if he’s still performing at an elite level.
“Yeah, there’s a chance,” Durant said. “My thing has always been, I want to still be on this level when the time comes. I don’t want that ‘OG, man, just come be one of the guys’ type of role. Nah, I want to hoop. If I go out there, I want to be counted on to play minutes.”
Durant made it clear that he’s not interested in a ceremonial farewell tour.
“You need me to knock down shots and help the team, I’m in. But if I’m just there for the vibes, give that spot to a younger guy who hasn’t experienced it yet. If I’m still hooping at that level—and I expect to be—then yeah, I’d love to be a part of it, especially with the Olympics in L.A., on home soil.”
Now 36, Durant will be 39 when the 2028 Olympics arrive. Already considered by many to be the greatest basketball Olympian ever, he has played a crucial role in four gold medal runs (2012, 2016, 2020, and 2024), won FIBA Men’s Olympic MVP in 2020, and holds the record as Team USA’s all-time leading Olympic scorer with 518 points.
Despite entering his 17th NBA season, Durant continues to defy Father Time, averaging 26.9 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game this season on elite efficiency (54/40/83 splits).
While some of his superstar contemporaries have already ruled themselves out for 2028, Durant is keeping the door open for one final run on the international stage.
