[Jolly Sports News] Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid addressed critics on Friday amid his ongoing absence due to knee concerns.

Embiid responded to a column by Philadelphia Inquirer’s Marcus Hayes, who suggested the team should offer refunds to fans for games Embiid missed and labeled him “the least-dependable superstar” while questioning his professionalism.

Frustrated by these accusations, Embiid strongly defended himself. “If your body doesn’t respond well, it’s out of your control,” Embiid said. “I’ve played through injuries—broken my face twice, risking my vision, and broken fingers. I’ve done too much for this city to be accused of not wanting to play. It’s bulls–t.”

Embiid added, “I’ve done way too f—ing much for this city to be treated like this. I’m trying everything to get back out there and will be soon.”

The 76ers have cited “left knee injury management” for Embiid’s absence, sparking speculation that he’s fit to play but sitting out early season games. However, a recent report and NBA investigation confirmed his injury is legitimate.

Embiid’s health remains a major source of frustration for both the team and fans, especially after he indicated he might avoid back-to-backs this season. While the 76ers prioritize having him healthy for the playoffs, his start to the season has been anything but reassuring.
