Joel Embiid Faces Worrisome New Injury

[Jolly Sports News] The injury bug has struck Joel Embiid again, adding another chapter to his ongoing battle with health issues.

The Philadelphia 76ers announced Friday that their star center is questionable for Saturday’s game against the Utah Jazz due to a left foot sprain and a sinus fracture.

While Embiid has been playing through the sinus fracture, which he sustained during a freak play against Indiana two weeks ago, the left foot sprain is a new concern.

Embiid appeared to suffer the foot injury during a layup attempt late in the 76ers’ Christmas Day victory over the Boston Celtics.

This setback adds to a list of recent issues for the former MVP, including a nagging left knee problem that required meniscus surgery in February and has limited him to just nine of Philadelphia’s 28 games this season.

Compounding matters, Embiid also injured his right ankle during pregame warmups on Christmas Day but managed to play through the pain.

The new sprain is particularly troubling as it affects the same leg that has already caused Embiid to miss significant time this season. For the 11-17 Sixers, who are struggling to find consistency, the prospect of losing their seven-time All-Star again is a tough pill to swallow.
