[Jolly Sports News] The bad blood between the Phoenix Suns and Minnesota Timberwolves isn’t going away anytime soon.
The two teams squared off in Phoenix on Wednesday night, with the Timberwolves coming out on top, 121-113. But the real fireworks came in the closing seconds when Suns guard Devin Booker and Wolves forward Jaden McDaniels got into a heated exchange.
As a timeout was called with the game already decided, Booker and McDaniels began jawing at each other. At one point, McDaniels poked his finger in Booker’s face and appeared to call him a “baby.”
Upon review, McDaniels was ejected for making contact, while Booker received a technical foul. Suns star Kevin Durant also picked up a tech for chirping at McDaniels after the altercation was broken up.
Tensions ran high throughout the game. Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch was also ejected in the third quarter after picking up his second technical for arguing with officials—walking off the floor while dropping some choice words.
The Suns and Wolves have a recent history of animosity, having met in last year’s first-round playoff series, where Minnesota swept Phoenix in four games. That intensity has clearly carried over into this season.
