[Jolly Sports News] San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich remains away from the team as he recovers from a stroke, but his dedication to his players hasn’t wavered.
Spurs guard Chris Paul recently shared that Popovich still calls him after every game to discuss what he observed. Paul expressed his admiration for the gesture, especially considering Popovich’s health challenges.
“He calls me after games and tells me what he sees,” Paul said, via Joe Vardon of *The Athletic*. “I appreciate that more than anything because he doesn’t have to do that.”
Popovich stepped away from coaching in early November after suffering the stroke and has been focusing on his recovery. While there is no official timeline for his return, the Hall of Fame coach has made it clear he plans to resume his duties once his health permits.
Despite his absence, the Spurs have managed to stay competitive, posting a 17-19 record since Popovich stepped away. His continued involvement, even from a distance, underscores his commitment to his players and the team’s success.
