[Saba Sports News] Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James suffered an injury during Saturday night’s game against the Boston Celtics, and new details have emerged about its severity.
Midway through the fourth quarter of the Lakers’ 111-101 loss at TD Garden, James executed a double-pivot move on Jaylen Brown in the post and finished the basket but was visibly limping as he ran back up the floor. He exited shortly after and was seen stretching his groin on the sideline.
After the game, *ESPN’s* Dave McMenamin reported that the initial belief was James would be sidelined for *weeks*, not days. On Sunday morning, *The Athletic’s* Shams Charania provided further insight, revealing that James has been diagnosed with a groin strain and is expected to miss at least 1-2 weeks.
James, however, remained optimistic when speaking to reporters, saying he doesn’t believe this injury is as severe as the groin issue that sidelined him for 17 games a few years ago.
Regardless, the timing couldn’t be worse for the Lakers. They had won eight straight heading into Saturday’s matchup and are just a half-game behind the second-place Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference.
James and Luka Doncic had been thriving together, but with LeBron sidelined, Doncic will now have to carry the load as L.A. pushes toward the playoffs.
