[Jolly Sports News] Former NBA All-Star Kenyon Martin didn’t hold back in criticizing Ja Morant’s father, Tee Morant, over his behavior at Memphis Grizzlies games.
Tee Morant has been a constant presence at Grizzlies games since Ja entered the league in 2019, but his courtside antics have drawn attention. On Feb. 8, he was ejected from a game against the Oklahoma City Thunder after arguing with officials.
Martin, who not only played in the NBA but also has a son, KJ Martin, in the league, weighed in on the situation during an appearance on *Gil’s Arena*. He made it clear he thinks Tee Morant is out of line.
“It ain’t about you, dude,” Martin said. “Sit your a– down and watch your f—ing son play, dawg. Cheer him on. You don’t agree with a call? Keep your voice to a certain degree. Shut the f— up and watch your son play.”
Some on the show argued that Tee Morant is just a passionate fan supporting his son, but Martin pushed back.
“As a man, you are embarrassing your son. This ain’t about you. Sit down and shut up. You are not the center of attention; Ja Morant is,” he added.
Martin emphasized that Tee should prioritize being a father over being a vocal courtside presence.
Ja Morant, a two-time All-Star, remains one of the NBA’s top talents, averaging 20.7 points, 7.4 assists, and 1.3 steals per game for the 36-18 Grizzlies. Meanwhile, Martin, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2000 NBA Draft, played 15 seasons and was an All-Star in 2003-04.
Tee Morant has been at the center of controversy before, and Martin’s comments reflect growing criticism over his public behavior.
