[Jolly Sports News] Draymond Green delivered some tough love to a teammate during the Golden State Warriors’ 109-105 win over the Phoenix Suns on Saturday.
With just under six minutes left in the third quarter and the Warriors holding a slim 75-74 lead, Golden State guard Buddy Hield attempted a risky pass to Green on the right wing, nearly turning the ball over. Green leapt to save the play, but with the shot clock expiring, he was forced to take a contested three-pointer that fell far short of the rim.
As the ball sailed out of bounds, Green vented his frustration at Hield with a string of fiery expletives:
“Wake the f–k up! Or go sit the f–k down! S–t!” Green shouted.
When asked about the heated moment after the game, Green showed no remorse.
“Mics catch everything today,” he said. “I don’t care. I’ll say it right into the mic.”
Hield didn’t respond well to Green’s message. He missed all four of his three-point attempts for the rest of the quarter and was benched in the final period, finishing the game scoreless on 0/7 shooting.
Meanwhile, Green had a standout performance, tallying 16 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists. Despite his airballed three-pointer, the former Defensive Player of the Year still shot an impressive 3/5 from beyond the arc, helping secure the Warriors’ victory.
