[Jolly Sports News] Dillon Brooks and Trae Young were hit with double technicals on Tuesday after a heated exchange during the Houston Rockets’ 100-96 win over the Atlanta Hawks at State Farm Arena.
With 46.2 seconds left, Dyson Daniels made a driving layup to cut Houston’s lead to 98-95, but a foul call on Fred VanVleet led to some on-court discussions.
As tensions rose, Brooks was spotted putting his hand on the back of Young’s neck. Daniels then sank his free throw, bringing the Hawks within two, but Alperen Sengun’s late dunk sealed the game for Houston.
After the game, Young addressed the incident, saying he was penalized because officials believed he had headbutted Brooks.
“That’s so terrible,” Young said of the call. “The refs tonight … I’m trying to save my money.”
His comment suggested he was holding back criticism to avoid a fine.
