[Jolly Sports News] The Phoenix Suns are enduring one of their most chaotic seasons yet, and Devin Booker is feeling the weight, especially after a 115-104 loss to the Charlotte Hornets on Tuesday.

Despite his experience with tough seasons, this one ranks among the most frustrating. With two other superstars in Bradley Beal and Kevin Durant, disarray has plagued the team on multiple fronts.

Fans have even revisited Booker’s previous “unstoppable” comments about the Suns’ Big 3, criticizing the team’s inconsistency. But Booker is just as frustrated as anyone. Speaking to AZCentral’s Duane Rankin, he expressed his disappointment in the team’s inability to maintain energy and communication when adversity hits:

“You can’t have that. The vibes and communication being high when we have it rolling and things going well, and then when we get in a tough spot, just fold. I just want to see the energy. Energy and effort high no matter what the score is. Just keep playing.”

This disconnect was glaring against Charlotte. Coming off a win against the Philadelphia 76ers the night before, the Suns fell apart in the second quarter, allowing the Hornets to score 37 points compared to their 17. While Booker led with 39 points, it wasn’t enough to overcome the collapse. The loss marked a low point, especially since the Hornets had lost 10 straight games prior to the upset.

Bradley Beal, who has been the subject of trade rumors, also took accountability after the game, echoing Booker’s sentiments.

“We can’t do that,” Beal said. “It’s a tough one. We definitely took a step back.”

The Suns’ inconsistency has been a recurring issue since Kevin Durant returned from injury. After starting the season 8-1, Phoenix has gone 8-18, dropping to 16-19 overall and sitting 12th in the Western Conference standings. Injuries have played a role, but even with head coach Mike Budenholzer at the helm, the team has struggled to establish a clear identity.

Point guard Tyus Jones, in his first year with the Suns, voiced the concerns shared by fans and players alike, “What’s the deal, what’s the problem? Why aren’t we playing up to the standard we all felt we were capable of and honestly showed in the first stretch of the season? It’s been a rough go the last few weeks. I think everyone is wondering the same thing.”

The Suns’ inability to maintain leads and play consistently has forced them into desperate basketball, far from the standard they aspire to.

While some suggest trading Beal could provide clarity, the real issue lies in establishing a cohesive and recognizable playing style. The Suns need to address their fundamental errors quickly to turn their season around and secure a playoff spot.

Sitting three games below .500, the Suns have time to course-correct, but their current trajectory leaves little room for optimism. The urgency to establish consistency and identity has never been higher.
