The two core Tropang Giga players have been plagued by calf and knee injuries, respectively, but still featured in Game 4 of the best-of seven series on Wednesday night at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Castro played 18 minutes and added nine points and two rebounds, while Williams played 19 minutes and added four rebounds and five points in an 81-79 victory to take a 3-1 series lead.
The two “never aged warriors” missed their third game due to injury and saw Tropang Giga lose by a narrow margin of 110-109.
Coach Chot Reyes naturally had high praise for Castro, 38, and Williams, 42, saying they overcame the odds to contribute to the team’s victory. He also said that the two injured players were actually a calculated and risky decision by the coaching staff.
