[Jolly Sports News] Anthony Edwards is in hot water with the NBA once again.
The league announced Monday that the Minnesota Timberwolves star has been fined $75,000 for “public criticism of officiating” and “using inappropriate and profane language.”
The penalty follows Edwards’ comments during his postgame media availability after Minnesota’s loss to Golden State on Saturday.
Frustrated with the refereeing, Edwards lashed out, calling the officials “sensitive” and “terrible” and referring to the referee who issued him a technical foul as a “motherf–ker.” The technical occurred in the second quarter of the game, which saw the Timberwolves drop to 14-13 on the season.
Edwards’ frustration may have been fueled by his rough shooting night, as he went 6-for-20 from the field for 19 points. The loss pushed Minnesota, a conference finalist last season, down to 10th place in the West.
This is not Edwards’ first run-in with NBA discipline this season. He was fined $25,000 earlier this month for profanity in another postgame interview and $35,000 weeks prior for an obscene gesture directed at a fan. With this latest fine, Edwards has now racked up more in penalties than his previous two combined.
