[Saba Sports News] Michael Jordan is making an unexpected leap into broadcasting, though it won’t be a full-time role.

Earlier this week, it was revealed that the NBA legend will be joining NBC’s coverage of the league once the network regains NBA broadcast rights starting in the 2025–26 season. NBC announced that Jordan will serve as a “special contributor” across both its main network and Peacock.

However, additional reporting from John Ourand of Puck adds more context. According to Ourand, Jordan won’t be appearing on a weekly basis. His involvement will be occasional, as part of a deal that NBC’s President of Acquisitions and Partnerships, Jon Miller, worked on for months. Miller has a long-standing relationship with Jordan dating back to his playing career.

Now 62, Jordan has largely remained out of the media spotlight since retiring in 2003. While he’s maintained a strong business presence — including his time as majority owner of the Charlotte Hornets and his role in ESPN’s 2020 docuseries The Last Dance — he has avoided traditional analyst roles unlike many of his fellow former players.

That’s set to change later this year, as Jordan joins NBC’s NBA coverage in a limited but high-impact capacity. His presence is a major addition to an already star-studded lineup of former players expected to be part of NBC’s broadcast team.
