[Saba Sports News] Phoenix Suns guard Bradley Beal faced heavy criticism from fans after delivering what many consider the worst performance of his NBA career.
The three-time All-Star laid an absolute dud Friday night in an interconference matchup against the Boston Celtics at TD Garden. Beal missed all seven of his field goal attempts, finishing with just one point—courtesy of a single free throw—during the Suns’ 123–103 blowout loss.
Fans on social media didn’t hold back, especially in light of Beal’s $50 million salary this season. Many questioned how a player earning that much could post a one-point outing, particularly in a high-stakes game against a top-tier opponent like Boston. With the Suns’ playoff hopes hanging by a thread, the timing couldn’t have been worse.
Friday’s game marked Beal’s return from an eight-game absence due to a hamstring strain, and while some rust was expected, the total lack of production stunned even his supporters. The Suns, already without Kevin Durant (ankle injury), needed Beal to step up—but instead, they fell further behind in the Western Conference play-in race, now trailing the Kings by two games.
Beal is currently averaging 17.0 points per game over 49 appearances—his lowest scoring average since his rookie season in 2012–13.
Making matters worse, Beal recently sparked backlash with off-court remarks about what keeps him “smiling every day,” comments that rubbed some fans the wrong way. His forgettable performance on Friday certainly didn’t help his case.
