[Saba Sports News] The Golden State Warriors received some relatively good news regarding Steph Curry’s health following his scary fall on Thursday night.
According to Shams Charania of ESPN, an MRI revealed that Curry suffered only a contusion from the incident and avoided any structural damage. While that’s a relief for the Warriors, Curry is still expected to miss the start of the team’s upcoming six-game road trip as he undergoes treatment over the next few days.
Golden State opens the trip Saturday in Atlanta before playing five more road games through April 3.
The two-time MVP exited in the third quarter of the Warriors’ 117-114 win over the Toronto Raptors after landing hard on his back and tailbone while airborne on a pass attempt. Curry, who had already been dealing with a back issue, did not return and finished with 17 points in 25 minutes.
Some of Curry’s teammates expressed concern after the game, but the MRI results offer a positive outlook. While the 37-year-old is expected to miss at least one or two games, the Warriors can breathe a sigh of relief knowing it’s nothing more serious.
Curry is averaging 24.1 points and 6.0 assists across 32.1 minutes per game this season.
