[Saba Sports News] The frustrations of a rough 17-45 season may be catching up with Zion Williamson and the New Orleans Pelicans.
During the first quarter of Thursday’s game against the Houston Rockets, Williamson drove to the basket and appeared to be hit on the arm by Houston’s Tari Eason. However, no foul was called, and the loose ball ended up in the hands of the Rockets, who quickly capitalized with a fast-break score.
At the next stoppage in play, a visibly frustrated Williamson let the referee hear it. “So you didn’t see it, huh?” he said. “Sick of that s–t, bro.”
As one of the most physical players in the NBA, Williamson is no stranger to contact, and officials inevitably miss some calls when he attacks the rim. But this particular sequence seemed to feature multiple uncalled fouls against him.
After missing about two months earlier in the season due to a hamstring injury, Williamson has been back in action since early January. He’s averaging 24.8 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 5.2 assists per game this year.
However, the Pelicans sit 14th in the Western Conference, and Williamson has already voiced frustrations about how he’s being managed by the team. On Thursday night, though, it was the officiating that pushed him over the edge.
