Kevin Durant Shares Bold Proposal for NBA All-Star Weekend

[Jolly Sports News] Fans on social media didn’t hold back, with many declaring this year’s NBA All-Star Game the worst in history.

In response to the backlash, Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant jumped into the conversation with a bold—if slightly tongue-in-cheek—suggestion: cancel All-Star Weekend entirely.

“I think it’s more fun to complain about the NBA than to actually watch it. Crazy, cancel All-Star Weekend and let’s just give everybody a break since we’re so miserable around this time…” Durant posted.

While he later clarified that his point was more about fans complaining about everything, it’s worth noting that Durant himself was critical of the new format back in December, calling it “terrible.”

Of course, for financial reasons, the NBA will never actually scrap All-Star Weekend. But Durant’s frustration highlights a bigger issue—the league’s ongoing struggle to make the event worth watching.

Whether it’s outside-the-box format changes or the traditional defense-optional, 400+ point shootouts, nothing seems to be working.

This year’s All-Star Weekend in San Francisco turned into a disappointment for both fans and players. Sunday’s game felt more like a drawn-out variety show, featuring extended screen time for Kevin Hart and MrBeast, a long-winded mid-game tribute to Inside the NBA, and enough commercials to make your TV feel like a screensaver.

At this point, it’s fair to wonder if the NBA needs more than just a new format—it might need a total reset.
