[Jolly Sports News] Steph Curry couldn’t help but laugh Sunday after Draymond Green made a bold championship guarantee on live TV.

During TNT’s NBA All-Star Game preview show at Chase Center in San Francisco, Green was asked about the Warriors’ recent acquisition of Jimmy Butler. He didn’t hold back, claiming Butler’s arrival had reignited the team’s chemistry—and their championship hopes.

“[Jimmy Butler] has brought back that belief, and I think we’re going to win the championship. … Actually, I lied. We are going to win the championship,” Green declared.

Curry, who earned his second NBA All-Star Game MVP that night, was later asked about Green’s confident statement.

“I’m excited. I got Draymond on the telecast guaranteeing we’re winning a championship,” Curry said before pausing to laugh. “I love expectations and having something to play for, so he’s lighting a fire for sure.”

While Green has been instrumental in Golden State’s four titles since 2015, Curry knows that winning another ring will ultimately fall on his shoulders. But Butler’s presence certainly helps—the Warriors have gone 3-1 since his arrival, with their only loss coming in overtime against the Mavericks.

Though Green didn’t make the All-Star team this season, he still found a way to stay in the spotlight—whether through his fiery takes or his less-than-stellar performance in Saturday’s NBA Skills Challenge.
