[Jolly Sports News] Alijah Arenas, the 17-year-old son of former NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas, has officially decided to “Fight On.” On Thursday, the highly touted prospect announced his commitment to USC live on his father’s show, Gil’s Arena.

A 6-foot-6 shooting guard, Alijah recently reclassified to the class of 2025 and is considered a consensus five-star recruit, ranking No. 12 on ESPN’s top 100 for the class. Currently starring at Chatsworth High School in California, he is averaging an impressive 31.8 points and 7.5 rebounds per game this season.

Alijah’s final college choices included USC, Arizona, Kentucky, Louisville, and Kansas. However, the Trojans had some key advantages—proximity to home and Gilbert Arenas’ connection with USC’s head coach Eric Musselman.

While Gilbert played college ball at Arizona, he was coached by Musselman in the NBA during his time with the Golden State Warriors in 2002-03.

USC is looking to bounce back after a disappointing 15-18 season under longtime coach Andy Enfield, who left for SMU.

Musselman, in his first season with the Trojans, has led them to a 12-8 record so far, and reinforcements are on the way for the 2025-26 season. Alongside Alijah, USC has also landed commitments from four-star recruits Jerry Easter and Elzie Harrington.

This commitment is a major win for USC, especially after narrowly missing out on another high-profile recruit—the son of another former NBA star.
