[Jolly Sports News] JJ Redick expressed frustration after the Los Angeles Lakers’ 119-115 loss to the Houston Rockets, calling out what he believed was a bad call on a pivotal play late in the game.
With the Lakers trailing 119-115 and 5.4 seconds left at the Toyota Center in Houston, LeBron James drained a three-pointer that would have cut the deficit to one. However, officials called an offensive foul on Anthony Davis, nullifying the basket and giving the ball back to Houston. The Rockets closed out the win, leaving the Lakers visibly upset.
“The last play, it was a terrible call,” Davis said postgame. “Holiday was grabbing my arm.” Davis also accused Holiday of flopping during the play.
Redick, in his first season as Lakers head coach, echoed Davis’ sentiments. He labeled Holiday’s actions an “egregious flop” and questioned why it was rewarded by the officials.
The controversial foul overshadowed Davis’ strong performance, where he tallied 30 points and 13 rebounds, and derailed the Lakers’ chance for a late-game comeback.
Despite the disappointing finish, the Lakers remain 20-15 on the season and have gone 7-3 in their last 10 games, showing resilience in the face of adversity.
