[Jolly Sports News] Following Sunday night’s altercation between Tyler Herro and Houston Rockets forward Amen Thompson, Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler weighed in on the incident after the team’s 104-100 victory. Fans quickly reacted to the scuffle on social media, and Butler joined in with his own humorous take.
The six-time All-Star shared a post to his Instagram story, as reported by @HeatvsHaters on X (formerly Twitter), trolling Thompson by photoshopping the Houston Police Department into the fray.
While unexpected, Butler’s playful jab is consistent with his reputation for supporting teammates. Despite being inactive for the game, Butler reacted to Thompson tossing Herro to the ground after the two tangled during an inbound play.
Both Herro and Thompson were ejected, along with several others. For Houston, coach Ime Udoka, Fred VanVleet, and Jalen Green were tossed, while Miami’s Terry Rozier also faced ejection.
Herro had a standout performance prior to the incident, scoring 27 points on 10-of-17 shooting, with nine assists and six rebounds, helping to secure the Heat’s win.
Nikola Jovic contributed 18 points, seven rebounds, and six assists off the bench. Haywood Highsmith added 15 points, Rozier had 14 points and five rebounds, and Bam Adebayo recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Addressing the incident, Herro kept his comments brief, attributing the altercation to his strong performance.
“Just a physical game,” Herro said via FanDuel Sports. “Guess that’s what happens when someone is scoring, throwing dimes, doing the whole thing. I’d get mad too.”
The NBA is expected to announce potential suspensions in the coming days.
