[Jolly Sports News] NBA legend Isiah Thomas has shared that he is currently battling a health condition.
Speaking on Mark Jackson’s podcast, *“Come And Talk 2 Me,”* Thomas revealed that he has been diagnosed with Bell’s Palsy, a condition causing drooping and weakness in the muscles on one side of his face.
“I’ve gotten a lot of love from people saying, ‘Well, Isiah’s sick. What is he going through?’” Thomas said. “I haven’t really told anybody, but I’ve got Bell’s Palsy. That’s why you see me like this. I appreciate the prayers and the love. That’s what’s happening with my mouth right now. I just wanted everyone to know that.”
Bell’s Palsy is a neurological condition that can lead to facial muscle paralysis or weakness. While the condition often improves over time, its severity can vary. Thomas joins others in the NBA world who have publicly faced the condition, including an active player during the postseason a few years ago.
Now 63, Thomas is a two-time NBA champion and 12-time All-Star who played from 1981-94. He was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2000 and later served as a coach for teams such as the Indiana Pacers and New York Knicks.
More recently, Thomas has worked as a commentator for networks like NBA TV and TNT. He also played an advisory role for Phoenix Suns owner Mat Ishbia, a fellow Detroit native.
Thomas’ openness about his condition highlights his resilience and has drawn well-wishes from fans and colleagues alike.
