[Jolly Sports News] Jimmy Butler may reportedly be open to a trade from the Miami Heat, but team president Pat Riley has firmly dismissed the idea.

Recent reports, including one from ESPN’s Shams Charania, suggest Butler wants out of Miami and even has a shortlist of preferred destinations. Charania described the situation as having reached an “escalation,” fueling speculation around Butler’s future.

In response, Riley released a statement on Thursday addressing the rumors, making it clear the Heat have no plans to part ways with their star player.

“We usually don’t comment on rumors, but all this speculation has become a distraction to the team and is not fair to the players and coaches. Therefore, we will make it clear — We are not trading Jimmy Butler,” Riley said.

Butler, who can opt out of his $52.4 million player option for the 2025-26 season to become a free agent, remains a crucial part of Miami’s plans. Reports indicate the Heat might be inclined to retain him to explore a potential sign-and-trade in the summer if necessary.

Known for his stellar playoff performances, Butler may be frustrated by Miami’s current position. The team is hovering around .500, and their Eastern Conference rivals have made significant roster upgrades over the past two seasons.

The 35-year-old is averaging 18.5 points per game this season, his lowest since joining the Heat in 2019. Despite the dip in scoring, Butler’s impact on the court and his leadership make him a key piece for Miami as they navigate a challenging season.
