Viral Video Captures NBA Referee Admitting ‘I Messed Up’

[Jolly Sports News] NBA referee Jenna Schroeder had a tough night on Monday, and she didn’t shy away from owning up to her mistakes.

 

During the Philadelphia 76ers-San Antonio Spurs game, Schroeder found herself at the center of one of the season’s strangest sequences. 76ers center Andre Drummond, already hit with a technical foul for trash-talking Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama, got tangled with Wembanyama under the basket in the second quarter.

 

When Wembanyama hit the floor, Schroeder called a second technical on Drummond, resulting in his ejection.

 

However, a replay review revealed Wembanyama had flopped, not been shoved by Drummond.

 

Drummond’s second technical was rescinded, and Wembanyama received a flopping technical instead. Drummond returned from the locker room to cheers from the Philly crowd, creating a surreal moment.

 

A courtside video later showed Schroeder approaching 76ers head coach Nick Nurse to admit, “I f–ked up.”

 

She apologized, explaining Wembanyama would be penalized instead. While it was a significant mistake, Schroeder’s accountability was somewhat refreshing—she owned up to the error rather than doubling down.

 

Unfortunately for Schroeder, her night didn’t improve. Later in the same quarter, she controversially ejected 76ers star Joel Embiid, adding more chaos to an
