[Jolly Sports News] John Wall, one of the most dynamic NBA players of the mid-2010s, is still chasing a return to the league in the mid-2020s. Speaking at the G League Winter Showcase in Orlando, Fla., Wall shared his desire to end his career on his own terms.

“It would mean the world,” Wall said of a potential NBA return, per ESPN. “You want to go out on your own terms. I want to finish it the way I want. If I play my last game, I want to walk off the court my way.”

The five-time All-Star and 2010 No. 1 overall pick continues to train regularly and has remained connected to the game, even making his broadcasting debut at the G League event.

Wall’s peak years with the Washington Wizards showcased his elite speed, defense, scoring, and playmaking, but injuries—starting with a 2018 heel issue that led to a torn Achilles—took a heavy toll on his athleticism.

Wall last played for the LA Clippers in the 2022-23 season but struggled to adapt to a diminished role and lost explosiveness. Now 34, Wall is uncertain where he fits in today’s NBA, though his determination to script his own ending is evident.

After opening up earlier this year about past struggles with depression, Wall’s journey adds depth to his story. While his future in the league remains unclear, his resilience and drive continue to inspire.
