[Jolly Sports News] If you’re not a fan of the NBA’s three-point revolution, Friday’s matchup between the Chicago Bulls and Charlotte Hornets is a game you’ll want to avoid.

The Bulls defeated the Hornets 109-95 at the United Center in Chicago, but the game’s box score told a far uglier story than the final score. Chicago shot a dismal 14-of-51 (27.5%) from beyond the arc, while Charlotte managed an even worse 8-of-46 (17.4%).

Together, the teams missed an astonishing 75 three-pointers, setting an NBA record for the most combined missed threes in a regulation game.

With LaMelo Ball sidelined, Hornets rookie Brandon Miller struggled to carry the offensive load. While he led all scorers with 21 points on 8-of-21 shooting, he went a dreadful 3-of-15 from three-point range.

To put things in perspective, NBA teams collectively averaged around 15 three-point attempts per game just two decades ago.

That number has more than doubled in recent years, fueled by players like Steph Curry redefining the value of the deep ball. While this has raised the league’s overall level of shot-making, it also means fans occasionally have to endure shooting performances like the one on Friday.

The Bulls-Hornets game may have been a victory for Chicago, but it was far from a showcase of the league’s finest basketball.
