[Jolly Sports News] Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid suffered yet another setback during Friday’s game against the Indiana Pacers, continuing what has been a challenging season for the big man.
Late in the first half, with the Sixers trailing 61-50, Pacers guard Ben Mathurin accidentally struck Embiid in the face while attempting to rebound a missed layup. Embiid was diagnosed with a fractured sinus, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania, and will undergo further evaluation over the weekend.
He had just returned to action after dealing with a lingering knee issue and logged 12 points and 5 rebounds in 17 minutes before the injury.
This marks yet another chapter in a frustrating season for Embiid, who has played in just six games due to injuries and off-court controversies.
The Sixers have struggled without him, starting the season 3-14 before improving slightly to 7-16. With Embiid potentially sidelined again, Philadelphia faces an uphill battle to salvage its season.
