[Jolly Sports News] After keeping a low profile since his retirement in 2019, Dirk Nowitzki might be poised for a grand reentry into the spotlight.
Andrew Marchand of *The Athletic* reported Tuesday that the retired Basketball Hall of Famer is a top contender to join Amazon’s NBA coverage as an analyst. Starting in the 2025-26 season, Amazon will broadcast 66 NBA games per year, including NBA Cup and Play-In Tournament matchups, under their new media agreement running through 2035-36.
Nowitzki, 46, had an illustrious NBA career from 1998 to 2019, earning 14 All-Star nods, a regular season MVP (2007), and Finals MVP honors (2011). Post-retirement, he has dabbled in analysis for Dallas Mavericks broadcasts and delivered memorable moments as a guest commentator during his playing days.
Amazon appears to be pulling out all the stops for its debut NBA coverage, with reports suggesting they are also pursuing another high-profile former NBA All-Star. If Nowitzki joins their team, his iconic stature and insightful perspective could make him a major asset for Amazon’s coverage.
