[Jolly Sports News] In a hopeful update for LA Clippers fans, Kawhi Leonard might finally be nearing a return to the court. On his podcast this week, Bill Simmons of *The Ringer* reported that the six-time All-Star could be back in action before Christmas.
“My Clippers guy was telling me Kawhi’s coming back before Christmas,” Simmons shared. “He’s ramped up and ready to go.”
Leonard, now 33, hasn’t played this season due to inflammation in his right knee—the same knee in which he tore his ACL in 2021. The inflammation also sidelined him during most of last year’s playoff run. Over the summer, Leonard had a tumultuous stint with Team USA and underwent another knee procedure in the offseason to address lingering issues.
Despite Leonard’s absence, the Clippers have managed a 14-10 record, currently sitting sixth in the Western Conference. Strong performances from James Harden, Norman Powell, Ivica Zubac, and new signings like Derrick Jones Jr. and Kris Dunn have helped the team stay competitive.
With only six games left before Christmas, Simmons’ information suggests Leonard’s return is imminent. However, given Leonard’s injury history and a recently-filed lawsuit over his health management, Clippers fans may remain cautious until they see him take the court.”
