[Jolly Sports News] Anthony Davis sustained an eye injury on Sunday, forcing him to leave the Los Angeles Lakers’ game against the Toronto Raptors at Crypto.com Arena.

The Lakers trailed 73-70 in the third quarter when Davis blocked a dunk attempt by Jakob Poeltl. During the play, Poeltl’s off-hand accidentally struck Davis in the left eye, causing visible pain as medical staff attended to him courtside.

Davis was later ruled out of the game but had already posted 22 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 blocks on 6/8 shooting. Despite his absence, the Lakers rallied to defeat the Raptors 123-103.

Davis has had past eye injuries, including a corneal abrasion last season, which he described as feeling like his eye was “torn open.”

Losing Davis for any stretch would be a tough setback for the Lakers, who are navigating changes under new head coach JJ Redick.

Heading into the game, Davis led the NBA in scoring at 32.4 points per game, along with averages of 11.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 2.0 blocks.
