[Jolly Sports News] Less than 10 games into the season, the Los Angeles Lakers are facing another setback with the frequently injured Anthony Davis.

Shams Charania of ESPN reported that Davis is dealing with a lingering case of plantar fasciitis in his left foot, an issue he’s been managing since last season.

Davis, who will turn 32 in March, played a career-high 76 games last year and represented Team USA in the Paris Olympics. He’s started this season strong, averaging 32.6 points and 11.6 rebounds over seven games, but aggravated the foot injury during a recent loss to the Detroit Pistons and sat out Wednesday’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies.

Plantar fasciitis is known to be both painful and persistent, and while Davis might return as early as Friday against the Philadelphia 76ers, the Lakers may need to consider roster adjustments to protect him, given the physical demands of playing center and a long season ahead.
