[Jolly Sports News] Ja Morant led the Memphis Grizzlies to a win over the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday, sending a bold message to LeBron James afterward.
Morant scored 20 points in 24 minutes as the Grizzlies defeated the Lakers 131-114 at FedExForum.
Tensions flared late in the first half when Morant scored over Gabe Vincent, made the “too small” gesture, and LeBron responded with the same move after scoring on Morant.
After the game, Morant said he didn’t fear LeBron and has “no love for the Lakers,” adding that LeBron’s score should have been a charge and pointing out their size difference.
“Top dog in our league. You take out the top dog, who else you fear?” Morant said. “They beat us last time on our home floor. I didn’t get to play…My message was I was in street clothes. This was my first opportunity to get back on the floor against them.”
LeBron responded by taking the high road, praising Morant for inspiring the younger generation. The Lakers eliminated the Grizzlies from the playoffs two years ago, but Morant seems eager to spark a new rivalry with L.A.
