[Jolly Sports News] Gregg Popovich is on indefinite leave from the San Antonio Spurs due to a health issue, with ESPN’s Shams Charania providing a concerning update on Tuesday.
Popovich missed the Spurs’ game against the Timberwolves on Saturday, reportedly feeling unwell. The Spurs later announced his indefinite leave.
Charania shared that there is “a great level of concern” surrounding Popovich’s condition.
“It was a serious health issue that required medical attention pregame on Saturday,” Charania reported. “It’s uncertain when he’ll return to the sidelines.”
Popovich, turning 76 in January, is the NBA’s oldest head coach and has faced past health challenges. Assistant coach Mitch Johnson is currently serving as interim head coach in his absence.
