[Jolly Sports News] With NBA training camps just getting underway, Luka Doncic has already been hit with an injury.
According to NBA reporter Marc Stein, Doncic injured his calf during a workout in Dallas on Sunday, prior to the team’s arrival in Las Vegas for training camp.
The Mavericks announced that Doncic will be out for a week, ruling him out of their preseason opener against the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday. Doncic even underwent an MRI to assess the severity of the injury.
Heading into his seventh season, the 25-year-old Slovenian star has already made five consecutive All-Star appearances and has been named first-team All-NBA five times.
Last season, Doncic posted career-high averages of 33.9 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 9.8 assists per game. Dallas is hopeful he’ll be ready for opening night on October 24.
