[Jolly Sports News] The Los Angeles Lakers have been hit with more bad injury news, even in the offseason. On Monday, the team announced that Christian Wood underwent surgery on his left knee and will be re-evaluated in approximately eight weeks.

Wood, 28, a former 21.0 points-per-game scorer with the Houston Rockets in 2020-21, joined the Lakers last summer. He performed well off the bench, averaging 6.9 points and 5.1 rebounds in 17.4 minutes per game. However, a left knee issue sidelined him for the last two months of the season and the playoffs.

Now, after undergoing surgery to address the lingering problem, Wood is expected to miss the start of the 2024-25 season. Having opted into his $3 million contract with the Lakers, Wood will begin the season on the sidelines despite the team’s recent coaching change.
