[Jolly Sports News] A San Antonio Spurs player is showing respect to “The Point God.”
Spurs forward Keldon Johnson announced on Instagram that he will switch to the No. 0 jersey next season after previously wearing No. 3. According to Spurs writer Ty Jager, Johnson is giving up No. 3 so that 12-time NBA All-Star Chris Paul, who joined the Spurs this offseason, can continue wearing his iconic number.
Paul, 39, has worn No. 3 throughout his career on all seven of his NBA teams. Johnson, 24, has worn the number since his college days at Kentucky and throughout his five seasons with the Spurs. In a gesture of goodwill, Johnson is stepping aside to let Paul keep his signature number.
Both Johnson and Paul will aim to help elevate the Spurs next season, alongside franchise star Victor Wembanyama. No jersey drama here, unlike what we’ve seen with other teams.
