[Jolly Sports News] The LA Clippers are putting an end to the speculation about Kawhi Leonard’s health, at least for now.
In a recent interview with ESPN, Clippers head coach Tyronn Lue provided a significant update on Leonard’s status, confirming that the All-Star forward will be ready for the start of training camp in October.
“I speak to [Kawhi] all the time,” Lue said. “He’ll be ready for training camp. He’s feeling good, and I know he’ll be ready.”
Leonard, a two-time NBA Finals MVP, has dealt with multiple knee injuries over the years, including right knee inflammation that sidelined him during the final weeks of last season and most of the Clippers’ playoff run.
Although Leonard initially joined the USA Basketball team for the Paris Olympics, he withdrew before the first exhibition game, adding to the uncertainty about his health.
Despite these challenges, Lue expressed confidence that Leonard will fully participate in training camp. Although Leonard, now 33, may never be completely healthy again, he did play in 68 regular-season games last year, his most since the 2016-17 season.
With Paul George’s departure, the Clippers will rely heavily on Leonard and co-star James Harden in the upcoming season.
