[Jolly Sports News] Ja Morant has strong feelings about his new teammate.
The Memphis Grizzlies opted for size in Wednesday’s NBA Draft, selecting former Purdue center Zach Edey with the No. 9 overall pick. Edey, a two-time National College Player of the Year, had surged up the draft boards from a late second-round projection.
Morant shared his reaction on Instagram, posting a clip from “Rush Hour 3” where Chris Tucker’s character meets the Kung-Fu Giant. Edey stands 7-foot-4 while Morant is 6-foot-2, creating a noticeable height difference reminiscent of Tucker and the 7-foot-9 Sun Mingming in the film.
Before the draft, Edey, the 2023-24 NCAA scoring leader, attracted strong interest from another lottery team. Ultimately, the Grizzlies secured him, providing Morant with a towering new pick-and-roll partner.
