[Jolly Sports News] News broke late Tuesday that Bronny James is planning to transfer from USC, opting to continue his collegiate basketball career elsewhere. Insider Dick Weiss reported that James Jr. is expected to enter the transfer portal following his freshman year at USC, although confirmation is pending. According to Weiss, “Freshman G Bronny James is entering the transfer portal,” noting James’ freshman stats of 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists over 25 games. Potential transfer destinations include Duke, Ohio State, UCLA, Xavier, and Rutgers.

Bronny’s tenure at USC was a mixed bag, showcasing potential but struggling with consistency, culminating in a decision to seek a new program that better suits his development needs. This decision indicates his proactive approach to shaping his basketball journey, considering multiple prestigious programs for his next step.

LeBron James, when questioned about his son’s decision after a Lakers win, emphasized Bronny’s autonomy in navigating his future, highlighting the challenging choices ahead without giving specific directions.

The future remains open for Bronny, with collegiate basketball still on the table as he explores his options. His next move is eagerly anticipated, as it could significantly influence his path to potentially joining the NBA, depending on his development and performance in the upcoming seasons.
