(sabasports report) In the quarterfinals of the 2023 Men’s Basketball World Cup, the United States defeated Italy 100-63 to advance to the semifinals.

After the game, U.S. men’s basketball coach Steve Kerr spoke to reporters. Speaking about the victory, he said: “We played our best defence in this game so far and you have to play like that to win the next two games. You always want to respond to a loss with a competitive effort, and when you compete and play with that energy, joy and competition go hand in hand.”

Speaking about the FIBA competition, Kerr said: “We have a lot of respect for the FIBA competition, and as a coach, I have to tell them that international basketball is a different game. Lithuania were great, I didn’t watch the first quarter-final (Serbia won 87-68), but I think Serbia played very well. The former Yugoslavia has a long history of great basketball and great teams.”
